This is my first stab at doing a video blog post so don’t hate on me to bad. I tried using a webcam but the audio sucked and the video quality was sub par, this final version of the video was shot using my iPhone and I actually think it turned out surprisingly well. If response is good I may invest in some real equipment but for now the iPhone seems to be working. I chose to do a video review because I think it will give you a better idea of how I really feel about a book, check it out and let me know what you think.

Oh yeah, the second version of the video is much better. I hear you on the “actionable items” point. It seems that if we’re already out there making a name for ourselves, listening and pushing, the book may not offer that much. Still, he’s a very passionate and inspirational guy that can offer a lot to people who are searching.
Yeah the webcam version was pretty bad compared to the iPhone version. I hadn’t thought to use the iPhone until later in the day and when I did I was like wow the sound is like 10 times better. I ended up using YouTube because Viddler can’t process iPhone video correctly and it comes out with no sound.
Nice video, the video and audio quality came over just fine for me. I also really liked Crush It! Although I agree with you that I’d rather just place the brand first. It’s a great book for getting clear on how to do branding.
Kyle, liked your video and would encourage you to do more when appropriate. I found the lighting in the back room a little distracting (too bright), but that’s very picky feedback.
Right now, I’m working through 31 Days to Build a Better Blog by Darren Rowse. It does have what you say is missing from Crush It with homework each “day” (it’s more like 1 day equals one week for me).
Great job on the video blog post. I didn’t really know who Gary V was until I saw him on CNN or something and loved his dynamic personality. Have to pick up this book real quick.
His personality is definitely what makes both his videos and his book. I need to get a little more of that on “camera” presence with my videos. It doesn’t help that I have yet to figure out a good lighting arrangement. My wife thinks I am crazy cause I have floor lamps on desks and shades angled funky ways to try and get some decent lighting. I am hoping my new webcam I am getting next week will help out a little bit.
Turns out I like the video posts better than writing, if a post will work as video I may be doing more of them in the future, in fact I have another coming up tomorrow, stop back by and let me know what you think.
I actually just posted another one today! I like the medium, maybe even a little better than the written word. I hope to be able to include more in the future.
Nice job on your first video post. I have not read Crush It yet but I’ve been hearing a lot about it. I plan to check it out soon. Nice change of pace in posting a video.
I know I’m a little late to the party, but I couldn’t view the video on my phone or at work. So I’ve finally had a few minutes to check it out at home. I like the video. I think you did very well. The best part about video is that we get to see and hear you, so we can visualize that while we read your content in the future. Video looks like a great way to compliment the written word. I guess I’d better do one soon too.

Great first video post Kyle. I have not delved into video yet. But, I definitely enjoyed watching yours.

Video was clear and understandable…good to put a face with a website.

I did the 31 DBBB a while back. It was fun but I never bothered to get the workbook or anything. Hope it works out well for you.

Great job on the video. It came out well. I want to do one but it’s different talking versus writing. I guess I’m shy or something.

Great job.
What do you think? Will you do more videos?
