Yesterday the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) asked the US Government to suspend the Popular Cash for Clunkers AKA Car Allowance Rebate System. They cited surveys of dealers which showed the additional $2bln added to the program had already been spent. Their biggest concern was that dealers who continue to submit deals to the program are not going to get reimbursed. In true governmental fashion the US Government pretty much ignored their research and has stated they will end the program on Monday August 24, 2009 at 8pm. So for all of you out their looking to buy a new car this weekend keep in mind the odds are pretty good that the $4,500 is going to come out of the dealers pocket, or even worse your own.
Now on to the sites of the week as submitted by my faithful Twitter Followers:
@TheHappyRock had a great post on 13 Simple Tips to Make Tent Camping Easier and More Fun. That was a mouthful but it was a great post on how to get the most out of the original vacation. My wife and I hope to start taking weekend trips in the next year or so so our children are exposed to how great it is to camp like this.
@Green_Panda decided to buy a townhouse. I think home ownership is great. I think you should read through this post to get an idea of the thought process one person took when deciding to buy a home.
@MoneyHighway educated me on the probate process. I always wondered what was going to happen when I died, some believe in reincarnation, some believe it is on to heaven, the reality is you are off to court, well at least your stuff is.
@centsiblelife discusses how to get ready to go on vacation. Getting ready to go on vacation can be one of the most stressful times in your life, especially if you have four kids, this list of things to do is a great start to getting you on your way worry free.
@jasontopp had a great post about staying on the right financial path. It is all to easy for each of us to get sidetracked with something right when we are getting our financial life in order.
Carnivals
I inadvertantly participated in a carnival this week, the host didn’t post my submission from last week. So check out my post “Hiding Debt from your Spouse” in this weeks Carnival of Pecuniary Delights at Counting my Pennies.
