Feed the Pig – Review and Give Away

The folks at Feed the Pig asked if I would be interested in hawking some of their swag to two lucky readers, I couldn’t resist giving stuff to my readers and I found their site to be interesting so I agreed. But I want to make sure you guys know what they are all about. I will start out by saying their pig spokesman is creepier than the Burger King King. I think the talking Piggy bank is going to give me nightmares.

Who They Are

Feed the Pig is a project sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Advertising Council. The site is designed to help you feed your piggy bank, hence the name “Feed the Pig.” Their goal is much like my own goal, they want to encourage people to save, they are a little more specific by targeting 25 to 34 year olds.

What They Offer

Me, Save?: This piece of the site allows you to pick out what you spend money on and it shows you what that would mean for your if you were to save it.

Beat Your Brain: A quiz to test your knowledge of money.

Feed the Pig for Tweens: This sub site of the Feed The Pig site offers a hands on financial literacy program for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

Break the Habit: A list of tips you can use to help you reduce your costs and increase your savings on everything from lunch to gadget hounds

Tips: Get free money saving tips sent to you via e-mail or text message

My Thoughts

I think that any site that is out their to encourage people to take responsibility for their financial situation can’t be that bad. While the pig creeps me out they have a good message and very interesting site overall. Stop by and check it out, I haven’t signed up for the text or e-mail alerts so I can’t say how helpful they are but they certainly look interesting. It is worth a look if you have a few minutes, and it may even help you along your financial journey.

I agree with you. Any site that encourages people to save is a good thing. The more offerse the better, since it will be more likely that there will be something available for anyone.

hah! yeah i thought that pig looked creepy too actually 🙂 but you’re right, any site that pimps out savings and gets people to at least think for 5 seconds is a-okay in my books.

I like pigs. And piggy banks. And my 2 y/o likes to give her piggy bank “piggy food.” She knows about saving already.
