I am also an MBA and a CMA. So I can say with some degree of authority that personal finance has to do with having the right goals and behaviors. You can't be a total moron to be successful but you don't need advance theoretical knowledge. Don't get me wrong, my training is very useful in other areas (I make a nice living with it) but wise personal money management is not really one of them. I happen to be a CPA and half CFP (I dropped the program half way through). I am also an MBA and a CMA.
